Three months after their controversial Koffee With Karan episode went on air and two days after they were both selected in India’s 15-man squad for this summer’s ICC World Cup, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul reunited on Wednesday night to celebrate the former’s birthday.

KL Rahul turned 26 on Thursday and brought in his birthday at a restaurant in Delhi’s Khan Market with his Kings XI Punjab team-mates and also players from Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.

After the celebrations, Pandya posted a picture with his friend on Instagram captioned, “Brothers for life!!!!
No matter what !!!! Love you bro @RahulKL. Happy Birthday. Let’s make it our year”

The caption is a veiled reference to the controversy that followed after Pandya and Rahul’s appearance on Karan Johar’s chat show in January. Both players were widely criticised for the sexist remarks they made on women, and following widespread outcry, both were provisionally suspended during the Australia ODI series and then the tour of New Zealand.

While Pandya returned straight to the Indian team, Rahul was sent back to play for India A before he could make his way back into the team for the home series against Australia.

Punjab, Delhi and Mumbai’s teams are all in the capital since Delhi play Mumbai on Thursday and then Kings XI Punjab on Saturday.
