Hundreds of investors who put their hard-earned money in a private firm were in a state of shock on Wednesday, when its managing director Disha Choudhary placed an advertisement in newspapers, saying the company has nothing to do with Sachin Naik alias Yogesh Choudhary, a former director of the firm. Disha, who had acted in Bollywood movie Anuradha in 2014, placed the advertisement in the form of a public notice.
It read that Yogesh, with aliases Sumanth Kumar Das and Sachin Naik, was an employee of the firm located at Teachers’ Colony, HSR Layout. She told reporters that Naik forged company cheques and share certificates and fraudulently inducted some others as directors in her absence. Disha warned all those dealing with him that they will be doing so at their own risk. Disha, who called Naik her employee in the notice, said he was her husband till 2012.”I have no connection with him after we separated five years ago. He forged my signature and cheated people, claiming that he is still a director,” said Disha. Her lawyer Basavaraj said, “Disha is innocent. He (Naik) duped her by forging her signatures.” When asked why she surfaced now after remaining silent for so long, Basavaraj said Disha lives in Mumbai and she had to rush to Bengaluru when she started receiving warrants in cheque bounce cases. Many panic-stricken investors said they feel cheated after reading the notice. One of the victims said, “I paid Rs 15 lakh two years ago for a flat in one of the Dreamz projects. Even today, the project is not complete. I came to know that the land has been sold to someone else.”Another investor said Naik refused to return his money when he pressured him to do so.Naik had floated many bogus realty firms including DreamzGT and TGS Properties and was arrested recently for duping people. He is out on bail. His firms offered sites and flats at prominent places at cheap rates. Many fell in the trap, including pensioners.
