Ola, Uber Call Off Strike Till 15 Nov For Diwali

After several days of carrying forth their strike, cab aggregators, Ola and Uber, on Friday, 2 November, decided to call it off temporarily, till 15 November, so as to not cause more problems to commuters during the Diwali week.

The decision to call off the strike temporarily, came four days after stakeholders in the companies, held a meeting with the state transport officials and minister Diwakar Raote at the Mantralaya.

Man Arrested in Delhi For Storing 625 Kg of Firecrackers Without License

A man was arrested for allegedly storing 625 kilograms of firecrackers without license in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar, police said Friday.

The accused, identified as Vashinder Singh, was arrested, they said.

Police claimed this is the third case registered in the Tilak Nagar police station within the last 3 days in connection with illegal firecrackers

Earlier, 490 kg and 75 kg of illegal firecrackers have also been recovered in two separate operations.

Jaidev Thackeray Withdraws Suit Challenging Will of Father Bal Thackeray

Jaidev Thackeray on Friday, 2 November, withdrew his suit filed in the Bombay High Court challenging the will of his late father Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.

Jaidev had challenged the will of 13 December 2011, in which the Sena patriarch had not left a farthing for his estranged son. The suit was filed after Bal Thackeray’s death in November 2012.

He disputed the will, saying his father was of “unsound mind” and that the Sena chief’s other son, Uddhav Thackeray, had influenced him.
