Twitter users, particularly iOS users, went into a frenzy for about an hour on Tuesday, 16 October, when the app began streaming notifications in a cryptic series of alphanumeric characters.
Naturally, several took to Twitter to share and compare their problems.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey acknowledged the issue through his personal handle, assuring that his team was looking into the bug.
Minutes later, Dorsey tweeted that the issue was fixed.
Later, Twitter’s support account detailed that the issue was due to a lapse in the interface which saw the red bubbles that generally came along with the notifications to appear instead as codes.
“Usually, you wouldn’t see this in numbers and code, but that’s how we talk to your phone so you get those notifications,” the clarification read.
